Grana Padano
VIA EMILIA
Grana Padano is a hard, slow-ripened, semi-fat cheese with a granular and flaky texture made with raw cow's milk. It is one of the world's first hard cheeses, created nearly 1,000 years ago by the Cistercian monks of Chiaravalle Abbey, near Milan. Grana Padano is aged for at least 9 months and sometimes as long as 20 months. The flavour becomes more intense and complex as it ages, with nuts, hay, and fruit notes.
This cheese is incredibly versatile. Grate it over pasta dishes, shave it onto salads, or enjoy it on its own with a glass of wine. It adds a wonderful savoury flavour to any dish.
